Deseret News Article on Families of Missing Persons

This morning a wonderful article on Families of Missing Persons came out. Here is the link: DN-Shattered This article includes the feelings and experiences of several families with missing siblings, children and spouses from Utah. My Mom's family included due to the disappearance of Reed, her brother, at age 15 over 45 years ago. I will never fully understand their grief, confusion or what-ifs. Over the years my mom and her siblings have shared stories of how much fun their brother was and how much they love him. Obviously I never knew Reed, but I know that myself along with many other of his "nieces and nephews" feel a connection to him because of the stories and family bond. We, as well as his siblings, wonder if he were alive today what his profession would be, if he would have kids and grandkids our ages. I am amazed and have learned from his 10 living siblings the importance of families loving and supporting one another no matter what. We can use our trials and tribulations in this life to form stronger bonds with family, friends, and our Father in Heaven. I hope and pray that the information in this article will touch peoples hearts, help them understand how these families feel and know how to help them.

In Search Of Answers

On October 11, 1964 my mom's little brother, Reed Jeppson, went out to feed his 2 dogs and was never seen again. He was only 15 years old. For the Jeppson family the past 45 1/2 years have been difficult because they have no idea what happened to Reed. Today is National Missing Persons Day and the police have reopened Reed Jeppsons case and taken DNA samples from immediate siblings. These DNA samples are being entered into two different missing persons databases to identify any potential remains. This enhanced image of Reed was created through various family photos, including his own and immediate relatives. The results of such age progression enhancement has been between 90%-95% accurate in other cases. Our family does not think Reed is alive...they want answers and to have his remains found to help give them closure. Click the following for the story. Hungry for more.

Dare I say.....better than Twilight?
(I loved the Twilight books! But I liked this better!)
What happens if we choose entertainment over humanity?
In Katniss's world it isn't just the contestants who risk the loss of their humanity. It is all who watch the Hunger Games.

Book #2 Catching Fire will be released in September and I can't wait to read it. Cuddle up on your couch and take a break from the DVR for a few nights. It will be worth it. I would love to hear what you think of the Hunger Games.
(Sarah, I stole this post from your blog. I hope it is ok!)

Tate Halloween Party - October 17, 2008

Rachel always plans the funnest Halloween parties. Kudo's to her on taking the time and energy to prepare and plan this annual party! The kids have so much fun wrapping eachother up as mummies. Mitchell was so cute to wrap up Abbie. They definately had so much fun.

She looks so thrilled! She is still darling even as a Tinkerbell Mummy!

Sadie is our little Ute Cheerleader. It was the perfect costume since the Utes ended up ranked #2 with their win over Alabama in the Sugar Bowl later this year.

Sadie had a ball with the toilet paper. You can only see half of her face here but her smile is gorgeous!

"I want to be a mummy too!"

Sadie is not quite sure who is standing over her. I am wondering if she is going to cry or laugh!?!

Mitchell makes a good mummy. I took this opportunity to tickle him since he could not move.

Sadie could not quite figure out whose head she was sitting on. But she decided it did not matter and just started playing with the toilet paper on his head.

Steve and Jamie always have the best costumes. I love Steve's hair and tattoos. I also love Jamie's (Slash girl) tounge piercing and slashed up shirt.

Sadie looks a little worn out!

Abbie loved her dress ups! She was a fairy and she said she had on butterfly wings.

Her hair was nice and pretty until we got in the car to come to the party. Her hair and the car seat do not get along. She always comes out looking motherless!

Mitchell and Abbie are such good buddies. He loves to play with her and help her. She is having so much fun getting wrapped up as a mummy by her big brother.

Thanksgiving Point and Heber Creeper - October 16, 2008

In the afternoon we all met at Thanksgiving Point. The kids went on all sorts of rides and in the corn maze. I think the kids loved driving the go-carts. There were blow up slide and many other activities.

This chair is enormous. All of the grandkids fit on it.

I think we tired them out!

The Pumpkin Patch - October 15, 2008

This is a great picture of the boys. It is turning into a tradition to go to the pumpkin patch by my house in Riverton. You get to pick your own pumpkins, they have a corn maze and you get to sit on tractors. They had probably at least 10 different tractors. Luckily, the weather was really good.

Tate didn't want to get on the tractors, but he loved getting a ride in the wheel barrow from Grandpa Tate!

Sadie and Abbie had a wonderful time on the tractors. Abbie was taking good care of Sadie and made sure she had fun.

I think Abbie got on every tractor at least twice!

I am so greatful that I finally got two girls. We sure have fun together.

Austin is sure turning into such a handsome young man.

We sure had quite a group at the pumpkin patch. As they say, "The more the merrier!" What a true statement. I love getting together with family and the kids have so much fun together.

I am so glad that Abbie and Syndey are so close in age. 11 months is not that much different. They have a lot of fun playing together.

Austin always is so helpful with Abbie. He loves to make sure she is having fun and is safe. They are so cute together.

Some cute Sadie moments!

October 8, 2008 - I was doing dishes and Sadie was being so quiet. I started looking for her and this is what I found. She was having so much fun in Spook's cage.

She was not happy when I pulled her out of the cage. If she had it her way she would have played in there for hours!

September 30, 2008 - Sadie tried to help me feed her. I finally gave up trying to pull her hands away from her food bowl since she had already made a mess.

She had a blast! Her hair, face and hands are covered with food!

October 7, 2008 - Like I have said before, "Sadie is our monkey!"
